Baraka FM’s News Anchor back home after CNN/Multichoice African Journalist Awards

Baraka FM News Anchor George Otieno is back in  Mombasa after receiving  the most coveted international award during this year’s CNN/Multichoice Journalists of the Year Awards gala held in Nairobi on Saturday.

Otieno arrived  at Moi International Airport late Sunday where he was warmly welcomed by a team of Baraka FM staff and a number of Mombasa leaders including Mombasa Senator Omar Hassan Sarai.

Baraka FM Staff members accompanied by Operations Manager Babra Mkala turned up early at the airport to welcome back home the CNN/ Multichoice finalist .

Mr Otieno was awarded runner-up certificate and other prestigious prizes after coming out second in the Health Reporting category in the annual competition.

The winner’s trophy went to Ibanga Isine from Nigeria who came out the best in that category.

Mr Otieno was among five Kenyan Journalists nominated as finalists in this year’s competition

“I will ensure I win the top award in this competition next time, I will not give up” Mr Otieno told Baraka FM team on arrival at Moi International Airport , Mombasa.

This year’s overall winner in the CNN/ Multichoice African Journalists Award went to Hyacinthe Boowurosigue Sanou of Burkina Faso.
