Kenya’s Harambee Stars advanced to the next round of the 2018  FIFA World Cup pre qualifier despite being held to a goalless draw by  Mauritius in their return leg match played at Kasarani stadium on Sunday.

Stars were the better side throughout the encounter but failed to breach the visitors’ net with Johanna Omollo, Ayub Timbe and Gor Mahia  ace Michael Olunga both firing blank.

However, Kenya almost broke the deadlock in the 34th minute but South African based Brian Mandela’ header rattled the woodwork as Stars survived a scare after Mauritius launched a counter attack forcing  keeper Bonface Oluoch to come off his line to keep at bay the visitors.

Stars went to the clash at the back of a three goal advantage following their 5-2 win over Mauritius in the revers fixture and will now face Cape Verde Islands in the next round to be played between November 9 and 17 with the aggregate winner entering the draw for the group qualifiers.
