A middle aged business woman was Monday night shot and seriously injured by three suspected gunmen at Tawid area of Likoni , Mombasa.
The woman, 22 identified as Patience Boniface an M-pesa agent was shot once on her right shoulder a few minutes after closing her m-pesa shop.
The gangsters allegedly robbed her unknown amount of money and mobile phone in the 7PM incident.
Mohammed Gao, a village elder at Tawid told Baraka FM that he heard a gunshot as he was preparing for supper, but on coming out she saw a woman writhing in pain.
“I didn’t realized the woman was shot but after a thorough check up I realized she had afresh wound on her right shoulder, she was crying painfully” said the village elder.
The woman was rushed to a nearby clinic but later transferred to Coast general hospital for further treatment.
Likoni deputy OCPD Anthony Shimoli said the woman was shot after resisted to part with money the suspected robbers had demanded.
He confirmed the woman was in stable condition and confirmed that one used bullet was collected at the scene.
He called upon members of the public to volunteer information which could lead to arrest of the suspected gunmen who fled using motorcycle.
“We have been told that the three suspects were in a Motorcycle, we are hunting them and we are calling upon the members of the public to volunteer information to us and we will treat as confident,” said Mr. Shimoli.
