Tottenham came from a goal down to condemn Manchester City to their second league defeat in a row with a splendid 4-1 triumph at White Hart Lane on Saturday.
Summer acquisition Kevin de Bruyine put City 1-0 up in the 25th minute before Eric Dier drew Tottenham level with a 25-yard shot.
Three second half goals from Toby Alderweireld, Hurry Cane and Erick Lamela, apiece, saw Tottenham romped into a 4-1 win over Manchester City who chased the ball for the better part of the game.
Elsewhere, Alexis Sanchez bagged a hat-trick as Arsenal whipped Leicester City 5-2 at King Power Stadium.
Sanchez, who scored 25 goals last season for the Gunners, had failed to find the net in eight games across all competitions before this contest.
Theo Walcot and Olivier Giroud were also on target with a goal each as the Gunners maintain their good record over Leicester, now without a win against Arsenal in 18 Premier League games, stretching back to November 1994.
Meanwhile, three goals from Memphis Depay, Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata were all what Manchester United needed to cruise past Sunderland 3-0 at Old Trafford.
The result leaves the Red Devils on top of the log on 16 points, one superior than second placed Manchester City, while Arsenal is fourth with 13 points.
