Interior cabinet secretary Joseph Nkaisery Saturday meet top security team in Mombasa to discuss new strategies in combating illicit drugs menace in Mombasa.
In a closed door meeting that that brought together inspector general of police Joseph Boinett interior PS Monica Juma, sub county police chief and local chiefs and lasted for over three hours at Mombasa county commissioner’s boardroom, the main agenda discussed was the sources of drugs and ways to weed them out.
On Thursday, during opening of international show at Mombasa show ground ,President Uhuru Kenyatta declare war on drugs in coast region.
The president directed political leaders to work hand in hand with security team in ensuring drug dens are eliminated.
The interior cabinet secretary announced that all drug dens and sources have been mapped out and the local chiefs were issued with specific instructions on the way the operation will be carried out.
“We have discussed the ways and strategies to be used ,we have also communicated the same to security chiefs, we are mapping out drug dens from all the sub –locations and sooner than later we are going to let this people”said Cs.
Nkaiserry reitareted Kenyan-Tanzania border being notorious transit of raw bhang being smuggled into the country through Kwale county.
