The former Kajiado police chief has been transferred to Mombasa in a mini reshuffle announced on Saturday by deputy inspector general of police Grace Kaindi.
Tito Kilonzo takes over from Robert Kitur who has been elevated to be Coast Regional Head of Police.
He worked in Mombasa one time as deputy OCPD before he was tranffered and later promoted to be Kajiado County Police Commandant.
He was also among those recently reinstated to police service after passing their fresh vetting exercise.
Kilonzo is expected to enforce directive by President Kenyatta against drug traffickers and drug cartels in Mombasa and Coast region in general.
Other newly posted county commanders in the changes made by the National Police Service Commission include Sharif Abdala (Elgeyo Marakwet), Joseph Limo (Kisumu), Nelson Njiri (Kajiado) and Kalicha Roba (Embu).
Willy Lugusa remains the Nyanza regional head of police.
