Two goals from Ugandan Godfrey Walusimbi helped runaway Kenya Premier League champions Gor Mahia to humble Bandari 2-1 on Saturday at The Mombasa County Stadium.
Walusimbi sent K’Ogallo faithfuls into celebrations in the 24th minute after Bandari goalkeeper Wilson Obungu hesitated to clear a loose ball in his own area allowing the midfielder to break the deadlock with a fine touch from a close range.
Bandari could have level the score before the interval but George Abege’s effort went wide as Gor Mahia held on to the break with a 1-0 goal advantage.
Anthony Kimany drew the Dockers level three minute after the hour mark with a spot kick after defender Harun Shakava had handled the ball in the box but Walusimbi’s brace in the 78th minute sealed the victory for K’Ogallo who played without their towering strike Michael Olunga.
The win saw Gor Mahia stretched their unbeaten run to 24 matches with 62 points at the summit while Bandari remain sixth on the log with 35 points.
In other matches of the day, Chemelil Sugar edged out limping AFC Leopards 2-1 as Thika United smacked relegation bound Nakuru AllStars with the same margin.
