Harriet Ruto 30, was allegedly shot and seriously wounded by her husband at Shimo la Tewa prison on Thursday in what is said to be domestic wrangles.
The middle aged woman was later rushed to the Coast general hospital where medics say she is out of danger.
The mother of two is still nursing gunshots on her belly at the hospital After a successful operation was carried out to remove the bullet which has lodge on the belly.
“She is now out of danger unlike the day she was brought here, with intestines hanging! I could not imagine,” said our source at Coast General hospital.
Though out of danger, the women is stills weak and spends much of her time on the hospital bed.
One of the prison warden at Shimo La Tewa who sought anonymity and close friend to the suspect told Baraka fm the family has been having wrangles within the last one week since ms Ruto came to join her husband , who is also a prison warder at the prison.
He said the two love birds have not been living together but since the wife came to join her husband they have been quarrelling over night but on Thursday the quarrel turn bitter only to hear gunshots.
“We have been working together, he is very close to me but I never imagine Mr Ruto could cock the firearm and shot his wife” said the source.
The suspect , Geoffrey Kipkoech Ruto was arrested Thursday afternoon by the police and he is locked up at Bamburi police station a waiting to be arraigned in Court and charged.
