Malkia Strikers in a winning mood despite losing to CUBA on Saturday.

The Kenya National Women Volleyball team, Malkia Strikers started their global quest on a negative note Saturday, going down 3-1 sets to Cuba in their opening match of the 2015 FIVB women’s World Cup at  Yoyogi National Stadium’s First Gymnasium, Japan.

The African queens gave away a 19-17 point lead to lose 25-27 to Cuba in a tightly contested first set before repeating the same mistake in the second set losing 23-25 despite having lead 16-13 at some point of the match.

Malkia Strikers, however, claimed the third set 25-12 before going down 22-25 in the decisive set to earn Cuba 3-1 sets victory in their opening match of this year’s FIVB women’s World Cup in Japan.

The defeat stretch further Kenya’s dismal performance in the FIVB women’s World Cup, having failed to record a win in any of the previous matches.
