The killing of Osman Mohamed at Makomboani village in Kaloleni has sparked controversy as police announce they have arrested the main suspect who is believed to be a former boy friend of the deceased wife.
Osman , a Kenyan of Somali origin aged 27 , died mysteriously after he was allegedly attacked while on a visit to his in laws in Kaloleni.
The Mombasa resident had accompanied his wife for a visit to her families in the village before he met his death.
Kilifi OCPD Joshua Ole Leina confirmed the incident on Thursday saying the suspect Cresh Baya reportedly admitted killing Osman and was being held at Kaloleni police.
He said the deceased was taking a walk around the village after lunch when he met Baya who allegedly stabbed him to death on the neck.
“We received a report of this murder and we are holding Baya as the prime suspect in the killing of Osman and he is going to remain under our custody as we conduct further investigations.” said Mr Leina.
The OCPD added that his officers were further investigating the motive of the killing and once they get to the roots they will then arraign the suspect in court.
“That is part of our investigations we are carrying out. We want to get more information about this attack .Several people will be interrogated to get clear motive of the killing. There might also be issues of love gone sour or failed friendship between the suspect and the wife of the deceased. That will also form part of our investigations to the killing of Osman,” said Mr Leina.
The deceased body was taken to Coast General hospital in Mombasa County for postmortem.
