A team of detectives in Mombasa are digging for more information concerning the death of Nairobi based lawyer Geoffrey Oriaro.
Oriaro’s body was found Tuesday night in a swimming pool at a hotel in Bamburi, Mombasa where he had been staying with his family.
The 39 year old lawyer had been staying in the hotel after attending this year’s Law Society of Kenya annual conference in Diani, between August 12 and 14.
Mombasa County police commandant Joseph Kitur confirmed on Thursday that his officers have grilled several people including the lawyer’s close family members and the hotel workers over the death.
His family confirmed later that a preliminary report by a government pathologist showed that the immediate cause of death was drowning.
Lawyer Oriaro ‘s name came into limelight after filing a petition seeking the dismissal of top Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission officers.
The petition led to the ouster of Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) chairman Mumo Matemu and his deputy, Irene Keino.
