Drama unfolded on Thursday at a Mombasa–Lamu bound Bus when knife wielding youths attacked a bus Passengers at Bondeni, Mombasa in attempt to free a woman found ferrying drugs.
The gang of seven youths aged between 15-20 staged the dramatic attack on passengers who had boarded the bus at Tawakal bus offices based at Bondeni, en-route to Lamu.
One of the bus attendant who did not want to be named confirmed to Baraka FM that he became suspicious with the luggage the woman was carrying and was forced to screen it in which he later found it carrying bhang.
“We had finished arranging the luggage in the bus cabin, but I became suspicious with the two bags and I had to intervene” said the attendant.
The suspected woman is alleged to have called the gang when she realized things were falling apart, and within no time the gang of seven arrived at the bus threatening to attack anyone around with knives.
They later fled into the densely populated streets of Bondeni after the police were called in.
Tawakal staff confirmed having recorded the incident through CCTV cameras installed at the bus offices which the police say will be used to identify the prime suspects.
Mombasa Island police boss Martin Otieno told Baraka fm on phone that they were working on the matter though he did not divulge more information.
“As soon as we got the full information we are going to work on it” said Mr. Otieno.
