Nurses in Kilifi County finally called off the strike which paralyzed services in major hospitals in the area.
Kilifi County executive for health Rachel Musyoki, Wednesday said a successful negotiation led to the signing of memorandum of understanding between the workers union and her ministry.
Evans Ogato the union’s County spokesperson also confirmed the signing of the agreement and announced resumption of duties.
Ogato said they called off the strike after the County government agreed to increase workers house allowance and improve their members working conditions.
According to the signed agreement witnessed by the unions officials and the County Secretary Owen Baya, issues of promotions was also agreed upon.
Earlier, a child died as the two day strike paralyzed operations in both Kilifi and Malindi District Hospital after nurses refused to attend to patients.
Ogato has now called upon all striking nurses to resume duty immediately.
