The displaced families including children below 5 years and women are currently camping at Kanagoni Primary School in Magarini, Kilifi County after fleeing their homes in Tana Delta following the clashes.
Two villagers were reportedly killed and several properties destroyed during the clashes which erupted last Sunday between farmers and pastoralists communities at Miticharaka, Hurara and Misurujani in Tana Delta.
Kilifi County Police Comandant Douglas Kanja confirmed on Friday that 185 of the displaced victims are children and 137 elderly women.
Kanja said a team of security officers from Kilifi and Tana River counties have been holding peace talks with local leaders to seek for a lasting solution over disputes .
The clashes were claimed to have been instigated by long time rivalry between minority farmers from Giriama community living in Tana Delta and pastoralists fighting for grazing land along the boundary between Kilifi and Tana River counties.
Kilifi County Executive Officer for Agriculture Mwalimu Menza said talks were also underway between elders from the Giriama and Warthei communities to diffuse tensions over alleged disputed boundary.
