Azam FC are the new CECAFA Kagame Cup 2015 Champions after beating Gor Mahia 2-0 in pulsating final match played Sunday in Tanzania.
Azam skipper Juma Bocco led by example opening the score after a brilliant pass from his team mate from the right flank.
Bocco tapped the ball in the net in the 14th minute of first half sending Azam supporters in jovial mood.
Gor Mahia seemed shaken by the goal when they started sending balls upfront targeting Michael Olunga who was however under tight “security” from Azam defenders.
Olunga did not manage even a single shot on goal as his team continued to be put under heavy pressure from the Tanzanian outfit time and again.
The Kenyan Champions’ wish of leveling the score however was dented by the second goal from Tche Tche in the 65th minute.
Tche Tche’s free kick out of the 18 yard box, caught Kogallo keeper Boniface Oluoch off guard.
The keeper was largely to blame for the goal after assuming it would go out of play therefore not making any attempt.
However Oluoch was named the best goalkeeper of the event as his team mate Michael Olunga grabbed the top scorer’s golden boot.
This is Azam’s first ever CECAFA title while Gor Mahia would have wished to carry the day after a 30 year wait for the silverware.
