Mombasa based Bandari FC will host Nairobi’s Mathare United in a Kenya Premier League match set for this Sunday at the Mombasa Municipal Stadium.

The match is scheduled to kick off at 3pm and Bandari team manager Alfred Achayo said they anticipate to reap three crucial points at their home-ground, to topple Mathare United from the seventh spot on the Kenya Premier League table standings.

“We’ve been there, remember at one point we topped the table standings and this is a perfect opportunity for a come-back,” said Achayo, who is also a former Bandari FC player.

Five other premier league matches are slated for this Sunday in various towns across the country.

At the Ruaraka grounds in Nairobi, Tusker FC will play Sofapaka, while Nakuru All Stars hosts Chemelil Sugar at the Afraha Stadium.

Kenya Revenue Authority’s Ushuru will play KCB at the Kasarani Stadium as Gor Mahia host Muhoroni Youth at Moi stadium in Kisumu.

The Kenya Ports Authority-sponsored team is currently occupying the tenth spot with 15 points after playing 12 matches.

Nine points separate the table topping with defending champions Gor Mahia leading with 30 points, and followed by their closest rivals AFC Leopards.

Sofapaka and Ulinzi Stars are a further one point behind.

Tusker FC, Thika United and Western Stima, all with 19 points, keep tabs in the race for honours that is beginning to shape up at just about the half way through the KPL campaign.

The current Kenya Premier League has 16 teams.
