Rising star and Oscar Award winner, Kenya’s very own Lupita Nyong’o is set to be featured in the upcoming movie Star Wars: The Force Awakens which is expected to break records.
Lupita Nyong’o will play a motion-capture character named Maz Kanata. Kanata is a pirate with no allegiances to either the Resistance (the new name for the Rebel Alliance) or the First Order (the new Empire). Her appearance is unknown. It is possible that she is the alien character glimpsed briefly in The Force Awakens second trailer seen handing Luke Skywalker‘s first lightsaber, (Anakin Skywalker’s second blue-bladed lightsaber), to an unknown human woman.
The Mexican-born star last week was also on a tour in Africa as she visited Uganda for her project Queen of Katwe and got a chance to meet up with comedian Ann Kansiime.
“Monday Moment of Magic with the one and only Ann Kansiime. Funniest Ugandan period. Anne Kansiime, a woman of spirit, heart and substance with a killer smile.” she commented about the picture she took on Instagram.
