Police in Mombasa and the rest of the Coast are on high alert following intelligence reports that four terror agents were planning attacks in the Coast region over this weekend, exactly a month after a deadly al shabaab attack on Garissa University which left at least 150 people dead.
Police on Thursday released pictures of the four suspects, who they described as armed and dangerous and linked them to a plot to attack unspecified targets within the region.
The four have been identified as Issa Abdalla Kauni, Hussein Said Omar, also known as Bablii, Abulkadir Abubakar and Ahmed Said Omar alias Dogo.
“We are aware and are on high alert all over the region, although this matter is being handled mainly from Nairobi,” Robert Kitur, Coast regional police commander, told Baraka FM.
Police have placed a Kshs. 2 million bounty on the heads of each of the suspects, and have called on the public to volunteer information that could lead to their arrest.
The four add to a list of another eight suspects whose pictures police mounted on bill boards early last month following the Garissa university attacks.
